One Heart that Beats As Two

Annie Imes met the man who has their son's heart,
Joseph LaGaipa at this year's Circle of Life Gala.
In different Newark hospitals, two men lay dying.
Family members gathered at their bedsides, helpless, distraught, praying for a miracle to reverse the inevitable.
What those relatives call a miracle did happen -- though, while it intimately involved both families, only one man survived.
"Still, I like to think my son is still alive in some way," says Annie Imes, looking across at a man who has become extraordinarily important to her. "My son lives because his heart beats inside that man right there."
