Bill Umstadter was a true Renaissance Man. He was an athlete, a gentleman and a scholar.

He loved life and lived every day viewing his time on earth as a journey and an adventure not only to be lived but to be shared with family and friends.

As a Professor of Science, a dedicated educator, a Professional Ski and Tennis Instructor, he touched the lives of many. Not only did he teach skill and knowledge, he taught life lessons. He was a man of integrity, loyalty and high moral values.

Bill was a U.S. Veteran and served our country during the Korean War.

This quilt patch represents his greatest passions, The United States of America, Rutgers University, a loyal Scarlet Knight Football and Basketball supporter, The Yankees and the Giants, Killington Ski School, his love for music, Wagner, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Jimmy Buffet, his life as an academic educator and his love of food and fine wines.

Most importantly he shared his passions with his family, friends, and his students. We will continue to honor and live his passionate journey. His presence will be missed but our vivid memories, his joy of life and the lessons he taught us will live on through us forever.

May his spirit live on through all he touched and through those who receive his living donations.
