NJ Sharing Network held its annual Celebration of Life and Remembering event on Saturday, July 14 th at the Forest Lodge in Warren, New Jersey. The event signifies a day to express appreciation to the Champions for Life Volunteers and honor and remember our donors and their families.
Over 500 people attended the event. Many donor families and recipients paid tribute to the 19 donor family memorial quilts on display. President and CEO, Joe Roth welcomed everyone followed by Director of Public Affairs, Mara Barlow and Manager of Donor Family Services, Mary Ellen McGlynn, who also addressed the crowd.
The festivities started with the DJ’s playing dance music and overseeing games in the pavilion. There was plenty of food on hand and swimming was added this year to complete the beautiful sunny 85 degree day!
This year’s “match game” was a success—upon registration attendees were given a name badge with a number and were asked to find the person who had the same number. Once the match was found, a questionnaire was completed for a drawing of prizes. The game provided an opportunity for networking and camaraderie among the attendees. Bingo, hosted by Transplant Coordinator, Oscar Colon and heart recipient, Vickie Hunter was a huge success. The day truly represented our mission with all the families, our volunteers and employees coming together in a celebration of life and remembering.
