Bristol-Myers Squibb hosts largest workplace campaign
in NJ Sharing Network history

Bristol-Myers Squibb’s (BMS) 2004 Organ and Tissue Donation Drive set the gold standard for workplace education programs. Over six months of planning and preparation culminated in a comprehensive campaign designed to reach all 4,200 BMS employees at their Lawrenceville and Plainsboro locations.

Plasma screen TVs in the concourse area of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Plainsboro location ran video testimonials
throughout the two on-site campaign days.

NJ Sharing Network Community Relations Managers Jessica Melore and Tara Artesi are helped by Bristol-Myers Squibb Customer Relations Specialist Maureen Bocknack during the Plainsboro site campaign. Bocknack is a donor family member who was instrumental in bringing NJ Sharing Network to Bristol-Myers Squibb.

NJ Sharing Network Volunteer Coordinator Lynn Allred and Community Relations Manager Tara Artesi spoke with dozens of employees at Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Lawrenceville site about the importance and benefits of organ and tissue donation.

The campaign included:

  • Flash-animated email news blasts to educate employees and promote on-site program.
  • BMS-sponsored signs and posters to advertise and announce on-site program.
  • Literature to dispel myths and misconceptions about donation and transplantation, a donor registry brochure, and a green ribbon pin are distributed to every employee's mailbox on the first day of the program.
  • Senior management memo encouraging employees to check the facts regarding organ donation.
  • Several video displays of testimonials playing at strategic locations throughout on-site program.
  • Display of all 14 Donor Memorial Quilts at the BMS art gallery.
  • Information tables set up in prominent communal areas where NJ Sharing Network employees along with volunteers from BMS distribute literature, incentives, answer questions and help employees to register as donors. The information tables were set up for two days at each location.
During the onsite campaign days, a Donor Memorial Quilt and large sign were displayed at the entrance to Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Lawrenceville site.

All 14 NJ Sharing Network Donor Memorial Quilts were displayed in common areas during the onsite campaign days at Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Plainsboro location.

BMS-sponsored t-shirt with "Donate Life," BMS and NJ Sharing Network logo distributed at information table to encourage existing and new donors to be advocates for the cause by generating publicity for organ donation.

NJ Sharing Network wishes to thank Bristol-Myers Squibb for their commitment to sharing our message of life and hope with their employees. Although this was our first collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb, we hope their 2004 Organ and Tissue Donation Drive was just the first of many to come.
