Suggested Organ and Tissue Wording in Obituary and “Donate Life” Symbol
With the funeral directors’ help we encourage all donor families to include that their loved one was a donor in the obituary by both suggesting sample language and the inclusion of a “Donate Life” symbol, pictured below. Sample wording NJ Sharing Network suggests:
- In keeping with _____ loving and generous spirit, it was his/her decision to donate life so others may live.
- _______ gave the gift of life through (organ and/or tissue) donation.
- _______ final generous act was to give the gift of life through (organ and/or tissue) donation.
NJ Sharing Network has provided The Star Ledger with a version of the nationally recognized “Donate Life” logo for their loved one’s printed obituary. Should a family elect to have the symbol printed in the that publication, NJ Sharing Network is prepared to reimburse the funeral home for this expense. For a version of the “Donate Life” symbol to be used in a funeral home’s on-line memorial, right click on the image below. For a high resolution version of this logo, please contact info@sharenj.org.
