8th Annual Heritage Awards celebrated Black History and organ donation advocates
NJ Sharing Network held its 8th Annual Heritage Awards Dinner Dance “A Historical Journey Through Medicine, Music and Art” at The Pines Manor in Edison, NJ on February 24, 2007 with over 500 supporters in attendance.
The awards ceremony served as a platform to honor the memory of Dr. Samuel Kountz, Jr., America’s first black transplant surgeon. As promised, it was a special evening of appreciation, inspiration, entertainment, fine dining and dancing. The evening also highlighted the contributions of healthcare professionals, community and media partners who have worked, with NJ Sharing Network to increase the rate of organ and tissue donation in the African-American Community.
David S. Kountz, M.D. of the Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Group was the evening’s master of ceremonies and musical entertainment was provided by Valarie Adams and the Dimension Band.
