Bachelor's degree & medical technology experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field w/medical technologist certification, MT (ASCP) OR CLS (NCA) required. Infectious disease testing experience, especially blood donor screening, a plus.

Must be willing to accept weekends and holiday on-call rotation.

Position: First Responder Organ Referral Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities
·Responds timely to evaluate potential organ and/or tissue donors through review of the medical record, communication with nursing and medical staff as to the current status of the patient and the plan of care.
· Accurately completes required documentation on donor process and tracking, quality assurance, case follow up and other pertinent documents within required timeframes.
·Performs office duties as assigned.  Attends mandatory full staff meeting, clinical and team meetings to facilitate development and implementation of best practices. 

Education and Experience
·RN or a Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of one year of experience and/or training in health care.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·
Adequate knowledge of human anatomy and function.
· Adequate knowledge and interpretation of the medical record, lab values, chest x-rays, and medical/social history.
· Knowledge and ability to work with terminally ill of all ages.
·Sensitivity to grieving family members.
·Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal skills, critical thinking and creative problem solving capabilities as well as high levels of maturity stamina and motivation.
·Must be able to multi task and prioritize in a rapidly changing and high pressure clinical environment.
·Ability to maintain confidential information.
·Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
·Ability to work as part of a team.
·Strong computer skills and knowledge of software applications.
·Must have and maintain a valid drivers' license and be able to drive at all hours under all
conditions.
